According to the recent report, The English test will be removed from China’s college entrance exam in the near future, which has aroused public concern and a heated discussion. Some people support that the reform can help students alleviate study pressure and change China’s once-in-a-lifetime exam system. While others show great concern about its negative effect, especially under the background of globalization, on English teaching in elementary and middle schools.
Personally speaking, i an in favor of the English reform. There are some reasons accounting for my view. For one thing, the fewer test subjects there are, the less pressure we are under when attending the college entrance exam. For another, English education has been distorted in china as a exam tool rather than a communicating tool. Many students can hardly speak some basic English words correctly though achieving a high written mark, which is, so called, silent or dumb English. It is simply a waste of time for those whose jobs actually needn’t English skills at all, such as technicians or cashiers, to learn English.
As is mentioned above , I’m fully convinced that the English reform is beneficial to every senior school student, and I’m wholly-heated looking forward to seeing the reform program to be brought into force.
