为了能专心致志，明确目标是很有帮助的，因为具体明确的目标可以产生具体结果，也就是说目标具有结果导向性。再说的具体点就是：我们只有很清楚的知道了自己接下来要做什么，我们大脑才会提前做好准备，调整好状态、心态去面对接下来要做的事情。
不过要注意的是，这个目标不能是长期目标（如果是，还必须把它细分），它的时间间隔一定要合适，因为我们的注意力集中程度会随着时间的间隔产生松动和减弱。
其次，要学会管理自己的时间。
先明确自己的时间利用效率，就是感受时间的长度和时间段内能做多少事。例如：设定十分钟“倒计时”，看在这段时间内能完成多少事；接着，先“预估”完成某项任务（读书、作业、工作等）的所需时间，然后再和“实际”所需时间做比较分析。如此经常练习，就能帮助我们了解不同任务所需的时间长短，进而预留足够的时间，完成各项任务。
其次，制定确实可行的作息表，张贴在房间的显眼处。如果接连几天，都无法依照预定时间作息，应找出原因并做调整。制定作息表的关键在于：结合自己的实际情况制定时间规则，“自己做得来”的内在意识会比较乐意遵守。只要坚持一段时间，我们的时间管理能力自然会提高。
